Joel Bremson Headshot Joel Bremson is a 5th year PhD student in the Transportation Technology and Policy program. For his PhD project he is developing a multi-player computer simulation of the vehicle and fuel markets. The goal of the project is to help us better understand the challenges associated with a large scale transition to alternative fuels. Joel’s professional background is in software development. His undergraduate degree is in history.

While at UC Davis Joel has worked on multiple research projects. These projects have included a discrete choice modeling software package, a study of tire inflation technologies, an analysis of the distribution of gasoline stations in American cities (several papers under review as of 4/11/2008) and his PhD work in simulations. Joel has presented his work at several University of California Transportation Conferences (UCTC) and at the 2007 National Hydrogen Association (NHA) convention.

Joel lives in Davis, CA with his wife and daughter. In the rare moments when he isn’t designing simulation abstractions he can often be found playing guitar in one of several intermittently reappearing bands.
