Bryan Jenkins wins the 2009 Johannes Linneborn Prize for outstanding contributions to the development of energy from biomass

STEPS is proud to announce that its Biofuels Research Track leader Bryan Jenkins was awarded the 2009 Johannes Linneborn Prize at the 17th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition in Hamburg on June 30th. Professor Jenkins was given this prestigious award for his work in research on biomass and his role in founding the California Biomass Collaborative. Accepting the award, Professor Jenkins spoke about the need for global cooperation and collaboration in defining indirect land use change effects as individual nations try to enforce standards on sustainability.

The Johannes Linneborn Prize was established in 1994 for rewarding outstanding contributions to the development of energy from biomass. Johannes Linneborn was a pioneer in modern biomass utilization. In his professional life of almost 70 years, his interest covered a wide range of activities from agriculture, energy and transport to health and nutrition. His credo was the necessity to integrate all human activities in the natural cycle of life.
