Joan Ogden explains on Capitol Public Radio the role of California's policies in reducing greenhouse gas emissions
STEPS director Joan Ogden commented on long term greenhouse gas reduction goals and what California is doing to meet them. Her advice to the California Air Resources Board is to support a broad portfolio of technologies, including battery and fuel cell electric vehicles. Ogden believes that cost barriers can be overcome with financial incentives to the consumer. Vehicle and infrastructure mandates are needed if we wish to take a proactive role. When asked if California and the US should hold off until the economy recovers, Ogden suggested that it’s important to invest in the long term now.
