Fuels and Electricity

Researchers: Christopher Yang, Ryan McCarthy

Overview

Transportation fuels and the electricity sector will converge because of a number of important factors:
  • Increasing electrification of advanced vehicle drivetrains (including plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs))
  • Efforts to utilize non-petroleum resources, which are used by electric generators
  • Attempts to address the challenge of reducing carbon emissions in an integrated manner
